Access to historical map layers

Currently, we have integrated historical maps of England and Wales (circa 1900) and Ireland (circa 1840) as layers that you can turn on or off on top of the normal mapping.

Access to historical boundary maps for the USA

Over the last two centuries, the states and counties of the USA have changed quite dramatically. Our USA Boundary maps show these changes in ten-year intervals from 1790 up to 2000. You can simply choose the decade you're interested in and see what state or county any specific place in the US was in at that time. See USA Boundaries for more information.

Access to all new licenced data added to the site

Our site development will include the addition of new licenced data and functionality to the service (additional mapping layers, search templates and so on.) This additional data and functionality will be accessible to subscribers.

Life Maps functionality

A Life Map is a view of a number of related people or events connected together by lines on the map. They help you to see where family members moved or migrated around the world. See Life Maps for more information.

The ability to generate an income from the data you add to Ancestral Atlas

Why not make money from your research? If someone subscribes to our service as a direct result of seeing some of your data, you can receive a 10% commission from their subscription. The more data you make public, the more chance there is that someone wants to contact you about it.

Network with other users

If you see some data made public by another user that interests you, you can use our secure messaging service to contact that user and ask them about it. See How do I send someone a message? for more information.

Removal of any advertising on screen

Once you've subscribed, you won't see any more annoying advertising on our site.
